Design Process

Installing a new landscape or improving upon an existing landscape is a win-win situation. You’ll enjoy an outdoor living space with year-round beauty and functionality, as well as increase the overall value of your property. Whether you want a low maintenance yard, a play area for the kids and pets, or a sophisticated outdoor room for entertaining, ARTEMESIA can bring all of your needs together in a cohesive, beautiful master plan.

Most new neighborhoods have detailed landscape requirements. ARTEMESIA is familiar with area Home Owner Associations and can assist you with the plan submittal and approval process.

Here’s what you can expect:

Phase I - Conceptual Design

  1. Free initial client meeting to establish scope of work and approximate fees. Upon agreement we will analyze the site and discuss design criteria.
  2. Site measurements and base sheet preparation.
  3. Develop conceptual design including layout of all hardscape and planting areas, with possible alternatives. May or may not include specific materials and plant species.
  4. Client meeting to review the design and receive client feedback.
  5. Revise plan as needed per meeting.
  6. Conceptual design approval. Client receives 2 copies of the plan and pdf file.

For many small scale properties or do-it-yourself homeowners, the design process ends here. This leaves many of the design details and specifics to the discretion of the homeowner and/or contractor. For a more detailed design or for the necessary (stamped) submittal to city agencies, the following construction documents can be completed:

Phase II - Construction Documents

  1. Provide detailed drawings of the approved conceptual design as necessary for obtaining competitive bids.
  2. Coordination with sub-consultants if necessary, i.e. architectural, structural, civil engineer, etc.
  3. Client meeting to review final plan set.
  4. Revise drawings as needed per meeting and complete any additional submittal documents, i.e. water demand calculations, site cross sections, checklists, etc.
  5. Submit plan set(s) to agency. Client receives copy of plan set and pdf file.

Phase III – Bid Assistance/Construction Observation

Upon completion of the drawings, ARTEMESIA can recommend vendors to provide partial or all installation and can be retained to oversee the installation.
